BNC connector

BNC connectors allow to connect coaxial cables to different device types, in particular audio and video devices. BNC connectors connect and disconnect cables by pushing them into the socket and turning the ring. Special mechanism pushes the connector into the socket providing a reliable and durable connection.

 

Delta offers multiple BNC type connectors and sockets for different coaxial cable types. One of the most common connectors is a compression BNC connector (Fig. 1).

BNC connectors are available in two different impedances: 50 and 75 Ω. The former can be used for high frequency signals in WLAN systems or measuring instruments, whereas 75 Ω connectors are usually used in television systems and CCTV systems.

The main parameters to consider are: 

  • connector impedance – 75 and 50 Ω connectors are the most common,
  • connector bandwidth – a range of signal frequencies supported by the connector,
  • connector attenuation – a value expressed in dB defining the signal loss at the connector,
  • dimensions – cable cross-sections compatible with the connector,
  • installation method – three basic connector types are available: twist-on, crimped (crimping tool required), compression (crimping tool required).
